Just got a blog, and the name is ‘Very Random Thoughts’.


The reason is that it is a place where I can put almost anything that is of interest to me, I don't have to care about what others think.


On it you will find total random rubbish.

• Not Suitable For Work (NSFW). So it could be a bit rude.
• Technical stuff that I find of interest.
• Personal bits that I want to share

Bees on cocaine: The facts

OK so it is old new, but the question I would ask is Why?

News has emerged of the latest threat to nature: drug-addled bees, hopped up on crack by crazed scientists. Some bee experts believe that cocaine could have "as devastating an effect on honey bee society as it does on human society".

The scientists in question are Andrew Barron of Macquarie University in Australia and Gene Robinson of the University of Illinois, and some fellow bee and narcotics experts. The men, for reasons that seemed good to them at the time, got some bees hooked on cocaine and then turned them out to find some sugar.

30 Days Of Me - Day 01- A recent picture of you and 15 interesting facts about yourself

OK so here goes.

This is day 1

A recent picture of you

And 15 interesting facts about yourself

1. I have been married longer that I have been single. 
2. I am adopted. 
3. I have dyslexia, so don’t like writing. So why am I doing this. :) 
4. I like roll up (cigarettes) but cannot be bothered to roll them. I don’t like ready-made’s. Therefore I don’t smoke. And have not smoked for many (25+) years, so I am not going to restart now. 
5. I don’t like sweets. 
6. Hate artificial sweeteners. 
7. In fact I hate things most things that are artificial. 
8. Love walking, and the seaside epically in the winter. Perfect walk is a clear winter’s day with gently wind, after a storm. Walking along a beach with Deb and the dog’s. 
9. Love riding my motorbike 
10. Like skateboarding, and still do it. (However my son has taken apart my skateboard so I cannot use it.) , and mountain boarding as well. I am not much good at it but I like it.
11. I have always had pets. Now with 3 dogs, and 2 cats. We also have a snake in the house and have had (as pets) rats, rabbits and gerbals but not all at the same time. 
12. Really love working with my dogs. 
13. The first job that I wanted when I was in junior school was to be a Marine Biologist working off the Barrier Reef. This was OK until I saw all the long words (see point 3). Still love the sea, love diving but have not done it many times. Still want to dive off the Barrier Reef.
14. Love Theme Parks, yes they are 'artificial' but I like the rides, I think my favourite Dragon Khan. 
15. I built an online auction site in 1995/6. I wish I had done something with it now.

30 Days Of Me

I have seen a few people put this up and at first I thought it was a bit narcissistic, however some one might be interested in my cr*p. There are people who look at my face book entries, and even some who look at my twitter account.

I did have a blog many years ago, which I wrote for myself, starting in 1996/7. On it I put stuff on it that I would find useful for myself. In about 2006 I stopped using it. As it only contained boring technical stuff it was never public.

So now I have started this one, and this is a place where I don't much put stuff about dogs, unless it is useful and not well known. There is some Technical, some 'Not Suitable For Work' (NSFW) and other general rubbish what I want to publish.

I am going to start this on October 1st and I will not be inflicting it on my FaceBook friends so only this entry is going to FaceBook.

When I read the list of topics for this '30 Days Of Me' thing I started asking myself how I’d answer some of them. I am well into thinking about them and some of them I still have no idea. We will just have to see what happens when we get there.

Oh and I suggest that every one has a go even if they don't make it public, it is useful just to learn a bit more about yourself. If you make it public you never know others make find it of interest.

Windows 7 Mobile

OK, so I have about 30ish iPhone apps out there and as many in the Android market place (All do much the same). Now I have to do the same for Windows mobile.

1 Why does Visual Studio not work on Server 2008R2, so this means that I need to have a number of machines running. Not a problem just a pain.

2 It looks like the Windows Phone is just going to be an Ad platform and may be a phone as well.
